Welcome to Osteria Leone Alato, a remarkable Italian restaurant situated on the picturesque Fondamenta dei Tolentini in Venice. Just a stone's throw from the bustling Venice bus terminal, this hidden gem boasts an enviable canalside location that invites both locals and tourists to savor its authentic flavors and vibrant atmosphere.

At Osteria Leone Alato, the culinary experience is nothing short of extraordinary. The restaurant specializes in traditional Italian cuisine, offering a menu that highlights Venice's rich seafood heritage and hearty pasta dishes. Don’t miss out on the Sarde in saor (€12), a quintessential Venetian dish of sweet and sour marinated sardines, or the Baked Scallops (€10), a delightful shellfish treat that perfectly balances richness and subtle freshness. For pasta lovers, the Spaghetti alle vongole veraci (€16) - spaghetti with fresh clams - is a must-try, renowned for its bold flavors and al dente perfection.

The atmosphere inside Osteria Leone Alato is a blend of rustic charm and lively energy. While some guests have remarked on the dim lighting that may lend a cozy but slightly humid vibe, the laughter and camaraderie among diners create an uplifting backdrop. As customer Anna Matoušová eloquently shares, enjoying a profoundly fluffy potato gnocchi with warm tomato sauce here certainly makes for a magical dining experience alongside the charming Venetian canals.

Multiple reviews underscore the attentive service that enhances the overall sensation of indulging in these culinary delights. From friendly servers who joke around, as noted by Lizzy Richter, to swift service that allows you to dive straight into your meal, every detail is attended to with care. Whether enjoying the Gnocchi di granchio (crab gnocchi) or the wholesome cotoletta alla milanese (milanese-style cutlet), diners leave with smiles as warm as the Italian sun.

Whether you are winding down a day of exploration in Venice or seeking a special spot for a celebration, Osteria Leone Alato promises a memorable gastronomic adventure. Stop by for a fulfilling meal, and take in the stunning views as evening settles over the enchanting city.

Osteria Leone Alato – Venice What I Ordered: Pizza + Spaghetti Location Perk: Just a few minutes from the Venice Bus Stop, with canal-side seating and a gorgeous view of a monument where locals and tourists alike relax and enjoy the vibe. I stumbled upon this gem near the Venice bus terminal and couldn’t have picked a better spot for my first real Italian meal! With a beautiful canal-side view and outdoor seating, the setting was picture-perfect—people chatting, laughing, and soaking in Venice’s charm. I tried spaghetti here, and honestly… the best I’ve ever had. Rich in flavor, perfectly cooked, and exactly what I imagined when dreaming of Italian pasta. The pizza was fresh and satisfying—crispy crust, quality ingredients, and generous portions. Is it pricey? Yes, a bit—but so is the rest of Venice, and this place actually delivers quality and authenticity, unlike many overhyped spots. The staff was fantastic—attentive, polite, and genuinely helpful without being intrusive. They made the experience smooth and comfortable. If you’re elbowing your way through overpriced tourist traps looking for real Italian food in Venice—this is the spot you should try.

The restaurant is well located, but the logo is not very clear, easy to miss it while passing by. The taste of food is great. Well cooked and seasoned. Thought some plats may need a better presentation. And it is very dark and humid inside...

We went here for our last dinner in venice and it was the perfect ending. The food was brought on our table very quickly and it was extremely delicious. I got the potato gnocchi with tomato sauce and it was so wonderful, the gnocchi was super fluffy and warm and exactly what i was looking for!

I went here on my birthday (a Friday night) and we ordered spinach & ricotta ravioli with prawns, squid ink spaghetti and two glasses of white wine. The atmosphere had a lovely vibe and the service was amazing - do not remember waiting long at all for the food to arrive. The ravioli was gorgeous; I honestly could’ve licked the plate clean (luckily they give you bread lol). I believe we paid just under €50 for both the meals and wines, but I would’ve been happy to pay more. The man who served us was extremely friendly and had a nice conversation with my partner. Definitely recommend for an evening meal :)

We came around for dinner on our last day in Venice, being hurt before by tourist traps we were expecting to pay atleast €55 for two pasta dishes and two drinks, but it was less than €50! We liked our food very much. The service and atmosphere just added to our excitement from eating here. Beautiful place!

I had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious Italian-style lunch—and it was absolutely spot on! Fresh ingredients, simple yet brilliant flavor combinations. A light caprese salad, fresh fish and grilled vegetables - it all tasted like something straight out of a cozy trattoria in Italy. Quick, flavorful, and full of charm. The perfect midday break! ????????
